Kathmandu, Jan 3 (RSS): Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, has urged the media to disseminate news by giving positive message to the society.
During a meeting with office-bearers of Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Journalists at Singha Durbar on Sunday, Minister Gurung indicating towards the changed political scenario said that the media should play significant roles from heading the society towards despair and conflict.
He added, "There are immense potentials in the country. The media should encourage for the creation of new hopes towards such potentials."
Also the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Gurung expressed the view that professional journalism could be fulfilled only by standing in favor of the vision of moving the society towards right direction.
On the occasion, Federation submitted an 11-point memorandum to Minister Gurung, demanding not to curtail grant assistance dole out to the Federation from the Ministry and to make news rooms as well as the administrative structures of the state-owned media more inclusive.
In response, Minister Gurung clarified that no discrimination would be allowed as the state is common to all.
Federation's Chair Danda Gurung and Chair of Indigenous Community Network, Jagat Dong, among others were present on the occasion.
