NC marking national unity and reconciliation day

Kathmandu, Dec 31 (RSS): Nepali Congress (NC) is marking the national unity and reconciliation day across the country by organizing several programmes today. The historical party Nepali Congress has been observing the Poush 16 as the national reconciliation day. Domestic tourists' inflow on the rise in Kanchanjunga

-Dil Kumar Limbu Fulingling, Dec 31 (RSS): As many as 70 residents of Taplejung district have reached the Kanchanjunga base camp last month. Over 100 locals of the district are ascending to the camp now.   Some youths are planning to reach the base camp in near future, shared Dharke Sherpa, an entrepreneur of Dhunsa. "In the previous years, no Nepali trekkers were seen ascending to the base camp. I did not notice any local of Taplejung turning up here as a tourist".   He further shared, "But now the situation has changed. Residents of the district are thronging the base camp".   The inflow of domestic tourists has rendered relief to the tourism entrepreneurs, he said. Hospital construction site selected through voting

Myagdi, Dec 31 (RSS): Myagdi’s Raghuganga rural municipality has selected the site for a hospital construction through voting in its municipal assembly. The ninth municipal assembly held on Wednesday in Mauwafant decided to upgrade the health post based in ward-1 (Beg) to a 10-bed hospital through majority voting. Not for Province Assembly dissolution: Province Minister Karki

Biratnagar, Dec 30 (RSS): Spokesperson of Province-1 government, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has said the province government was not for the dissolution of Province Assembly. At a press conference organized here on Thursday, he said although the Chief Minister could dissolve the Province Assembly, the no-confidence motion registered against him would be defended boldly. The Assembly meeting has been called for January 21, he said, adding that the provincial structures of federal system would not be enfeebled by dissolving the Province Assembly. 22nd Pokhara Street Festival kicks off

Gandaki, Dec 30 (RSS):  The 22nd edition of Pokhara Street Festival began today. Give attention to quality control: Minister Aryal

Kathmandu, Dec 30 (RSS): Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padma Kumari Aryal has said the act of testing and regulating quality of food should be taken ahead as a campaign, as it concerns with public health. Inspecting the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control today, Minister Aryal suggested the authorities to start monitoring through mobile teams. For this, capacity building, adding of service centres and updating of existing acts and regulations can be done, she added. No provision in constitution to reinstate HoR: PM Oli

Kathmandu, Dec 30 (RSS): Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said there was no provision in the Constitution to revive the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR). Addressing the cadres meeting organized for NCP Sudurpaschim Province in the federal capital today, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the Chairman of NCP, asserted, “The HoR won’t be restored, so it’s time for all parties to concentrate on election preparation.” The President dissolved the HoR upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli on December 20 and announced fresh date of snap polls for April 30 and May 10. Loan agreement for modernization of electric grid

Kathmandu, Dec 30 (RSS): An agreement to acquire Rs 18.25 billion in loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been signed for the modernization of power grid in the country. The agreement was signed by Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry Shree Krishna Nepal on behalf of the government and Country Representative of ADB in Nepal, Rudy Van Del at a programme in the Ministry on Wednesday. Joint Secretary Nepal shared the information that the loan would be utilized to upgrade the power transmission and distribution system and make power supply more sustainable and trustworthy. Similarly, it would be utilized for the capacity building and upgrading of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). In addition to the loan by the ADB, Nepal government and NEA would manage remaining Rs 4.56 billion for the project. Kathmandu, Dec 30 (RSS): Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel has said that the government has been working to reduce coronavirus infection by developing necessary health infrastructure.  At a programme organised by Jyapu Cultural Development Trust here today, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel   shared that the recovery rate of coronavirus infection is increasing in recent period. Army club obtains AFC cup club licence

Kathmandu, Dec 30 (RSS): AFC cup club licence provided by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the governing body of football in Asia, has been provided to Tribhuvan Army Football Club, the departmental football club of Nepali Army.  With this, the army club will have an opportunity to take part in professional football tournaments under the AFC cup club. Nepal Telecom to operate IP TV from Friday

Kathmandu, Dec 30 (RSS): Nepal Telecom is to bring into operation the IP TV from Friday. Nepal Telecom had been preparing for this since two years and it will bring the IP TV service into operation through the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) in the NT TV brand from the New Year's Day 2021. Nepal Telecom has been presently providing voice service and data service through FTTH and it is adding the IP TV service as well.  Access to FTTH network would be required for viewing the NT TV service. For now this service would be available in Sundhara, Babarmahal, Thimi, Balambu, Bhaktapur, Chabahil, Chhauni and Gongabu within the Kathmandu Valley. Nepal Telecom's FTTH network has reached Patan, Hattigauda, Jorpati, Kirtipur, Sainbu, Lubhu, Naxal and even up to Banepa outside the Valley and it would be available at places where the FTTH can be technically distributed. Endangered Red Panda in crisis with forest fire ravaging wildlife habitat

Taplejung, Dec 30 (RSS): The endangered species, Red Panfda, has come across a precarious condition with its grazing land and habitat turning into ashes.  The fire that broke out in and around the forest area of Pathivara, Taplejung has posed serious threat to the existence of the endangered Red Panda.  Forester of Division Forest Office Fupumyabu Sherpa said the inferno that spread six days ago has destroyed around 90 hectares forest area in Pathivara.  Sherpa said that the loss could not be assessed right now as the fire is still spreading in the forest area.  There are 8-11 proper grazing land and habitat of Red Panda in the block stretching over 80 hectares in Pathivara region, shared Ramesh Rai, programme coordinator of Himali Samrakshyan Munch, an organization working in the area of Red Panda protection.  The fire has completely destroyed the habitats of Red Panda. Summiteers of Tilman Pass and Yuwa Peak honoured

Sindhupalchowk, Dec 30 (RSS): Panchpokhari Thangpal rural municipality has honoured a study team of mountaineers who have successfully scaled the Panchpokhari Tilman Pass Peak and Yuwa Peak.  The mountaineers had successfully reached atop the Yuwa Peak at 12.26 am on Mangsir 26 (Friday). Schools resuming face-to-face learning system

Ilam, Dec 30 (RSS): Schools that remained closed due to coronavirus pandemic now are gradually coming into operation after a hiatus. Schools have shut their operation through the educational session had started some nine months back.  The schools now have come to effect so as to complete the curriculum on regular time after teaching and learning became easier. HoR is not dissolved in true sense-Dahal

Kathmandu, Dec 29 (RSS): Nepal Communist Party (Prachanda-Nepal Group) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' said the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) was against the letter and spirit of the Constitution.  In his address to a public gathering hosted by NCP at Bhrikutimandap today against the dissolution of the HoR, former Prime Minister Dahal claimed that the House was not dissolved in true sense as the arrangement beyond the Constitution was used to do so.  "Constitutionally the HoR could be dissolved if the statutory alternatives are explored within the House and are not found", Dahal added.  Noting that the House could not be dissolved until there are four alternatives within the HoR for the government formation, he said but the letter and spirit of the Constitution have been ruthlessly battered now. Man killed in attack by elephant

Inaruwa, Dec 29 (RSS): A man has died in an attack by a wild elephant in Koshi rural municipality-4, Sunsari. The incident took place on Monday night after the elephant from the Koshi tappu wildlife reserve killed Moti Kamait of ward no. 5 of the same rural municipality. Kamait reportedly died on the spot, according to local resident Arun Mandal. In a similar incident, Pramod Kumar Yadav of ward no. 6 of Koshi rural municipality was killed few days ago. Locals have been staging street protest against the repeated killings by the tusker. They have also demanded taking one of the elephant known as Makuna into control or killing it. The locals say that the Makuna has so far killed 14 people in the vicinity of the wild life reserve.

Post-quake reconstruction: Over 23,000 private houses and 1,000 classrooms reconstructed in Makawanpur

-Ripesh Dahal Bagmati, Dec 29 (RSS): Among the private houses in Makawanpur district sustaining damages during the Gorkha Earthquake on April 25, 2015, a total of 22,105 personal residences have been rebuilt so far. Of the recorded 34,188 beneficiaries of the government grant to rebuild their quake-damaged houses, agreements had been signed with 32,805, according to the National Reconstruction Authority, Project Implementation Unit Grant Management Office in Makawanpur district. Among those beneficiaries who signed for government grant, 78 per cent have already received the second installment of grant and 65 per of them have got third installment.  The government provides a total of Rs 300,000 for reconstruction of quake-damaged infrastructures in three installments. Kathmandu, Dec 29 (RSS): Senior leader of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction, Jhalnath Khanal has argued that the incumbent government was working to destabilize the country.  “Dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) was the evidence of the same,” Khanal said. Speaking in a protest programme organized by the party at Exhibition Road here in the capital today, leader Khanal, also the former Prime Minister, opined to reinstate the parliament as it was dissolved unconstitutionally to create vacuum for instability. Nation-wide protest rallies organized against HoR dissolution

Kathmandu, Dec 29 (RSS): The Dahal-Nepal group of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has staged protest nation-wide today against the government's action of dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR). Youths losing jobs abroad due to COVID-19 pandemic becoming self-employed

-Siddharaj Bhatta Sudurpaschim, Dec 29 (RSS): Gajendra Shah of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City in Kailali district lost his job in United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the risk of COVID-19 started looming large. With no other job opportunities at sight, Shah chose to return home paying a hefty amount for airfare. After becoming jobless for nearly seven months, he managed to fly home before Dashain festival with whatever left in his hand.  Unemployment related issues kept hounding Shah even back home. That's when he decided to create employment opportunities for himself. He applied for a loan in subsidized interest rate in Laghu Udhyami Samuha in Kailali and started his own poultry business. Broadband internet connected in 512 of 753 local units

Kathmandu, Dec 29 (RSS): Government's vision to ensure high speed broadband internet in all places across the country has been gaining a momentum with 67 per cent of physical progress achieved as of mid-December.  Of the total 753 local units in the country, 512 local units have got internet installed which is expected to enhance and improve delivery of the public services and facilitate their day to day works, according to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). Police confiscate explosive devices in Sankhuwasabha

Sakhuwasabha, Dec 29 (RSS):  Police here have confiscated explosive devices hidden by agitating Netra Bikram Chand led outfit.  Police made public the seized explosives organizing a press meet here in district headquarters Khandbari on Monday.  These explosive devices were found at Maidane based cave in Chainpur-4 in the district.  According to police, confiscated devices include four sets of socket bombs, 50 units of gelatin, 30 sets of detonators and five sets of mobile phones among other logistic goods. SAFF championship to take place in Bangladesh

Kathmandu, Dec 29 (RSS): The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship is going to take place in Bangladesh in 2021. The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Executive Committee Meeting was held virtually over zoom on Monday decided to hold the SAFF Championship from September 14-25 in Bangladesh.  The Championship was to be held this year but was put off due to the coronavirus pandemic and the new dates have been fixed. Pathivara forest fire enters Kanchanjungha Conservation Area

Phungling, Dec 29 (RSS): The forest fire of Pathivara area in Taplejung has entered the Kanchanjungha Conservation Area (KCA). The fire is continuous for more than five days. Employee at Pathivara Area Development Committee, Rajendra Mahat, informed that the wildfire entered the Lukumpa community forest of KCA this morning.  Although a helicopter was used to spray water to douse the fire yesterday, it was not that effective, he said, adding that the water was too little to extinguish the fire. A helicopter belonging to the Simrik Air poured water above the fire yesterday but in vain. Private house reconstruction sees 80 percent progress

Chitwan, Dec 28 (RSS): The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA)'s Chitwan  district project implementation unit has reported 80.37 percent progress towards the reconstruction of private house.  At a press conference organized on the occasion of the 6th establishment day of the NRA on Sunday, the district unit office shared the information about the progress.  According to NRA engineer Sujan Nepal, 6,041 out of 7,860 beneficiaries have received the third installment amounting to Rs 100,000 after completing their houses.  Likewise, as many as 6526 beneficiaries had received the second installment of Rs 150,000 while 7,516 beneficiaries have received the first installment of Rs 50,000.  Towards retrofitting, only nine out of 1,262 beneficiaries receiving the first installment of Rs 50,000 got the second installment of Rs 50,000. Baniyani, Dec 28 (RSS): Police arrested three persons including two employees for providing fake citizenship certificates with the misuse of software used for the service. Spokesperson of District Police Office Jhapa, DSP Rakesh Thapa shared that the police team arrested Dhananjaya Kumar Saha, 37, office in-charge of the Area Administration Office Gaurigunj, Asir Alam, 24, office assistant and Krishna Prasad Timsina, 59, of Gauradaha-7 for allegedly involved in citizenship forgery. Three held with pangolin scale

Kathmandu, Dec 28 (RSS): A squad of security personnel held three persons involved in smuggling of endangered wildlife pangolin along with its scale. A joint team comprising personnel from Nepal Army (NA), Armed Police Force (APF) and Chitwan National Park (CNP) administration apprehended the smugglers on Sunday. The Nepal Army has put in place the ‘operation manhunt-7’ in the national park. According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the smugglers along with scale were handed to Kasara-based office of the CNP. The arrestees are Keshar Bahadur Tamang, Shukra Prasad Tamang and Panchalal Praja of Chitwan Metropolis-6. The team had confiscated 375 gram pangolin scale and dried meat around 500 grams. The Nepal Army has been implementing several operations for the conservation of wildlife and natural heritage and also for checking wildlife poaching and smuggling.

Chitwan, Dec 27 (RSS): The corona isolation at Yogi Naraharinath Yog and Naturopathy in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1 in the district has become empty after no arrival of Covid-19 infected persons. Jajarkot, Dec 27 (RSS): The maize produced in Jajarkot district has been supplied to various districts in the recent time. With the access to road network, the district has been able to export the local produce. Chief of Agriculture Section at Bheri Municipality in the district, Yagya Adhikari, informed that the maize of deuti species produced in different parts of Jajarkot district was being supplied to various cities across the country. More than 300 quintals of maize is supplied annually from Bheri Municipality alone. The maize is sold Rs 100 per pathi (four kgs). The agriculture section has been working for more than three years to produce the maize seed and make farmers self reliant on it. Wildfire in Pathivara area not under control yet

Phuling, Dec 29 (RSS): The wildfire that erupted and spread in the forest of area surrounding Pathivara Temple in Taplejung district four days ago has not brought under control yet.  According to Pathivara Area Development Committee's Executive Director Manakmani Kafle, the fire erupted some three kilometres away from the human settlement beneath the hill where the shrine of Goddess Pathivara is situated.  The fire is spreading towards the Temple area, said Kafle. He informed that the staffers at the Pathivara Area Development Committee, hotel entrepreneurs in the area and security personnel attempted to take the fire under their control on Friday noon.  But the forest fire reignited again and started spreading from Friday evening, according to the Committee.  Efforts are underway to douse the forest fire that has already engulfed plants spanning nearly one kilometres from where the fire erupted, added Dilli Acharya, one of the priests at the Temple.
