President Bhandari holds discussions with FNCCI office-bearers

Kathmandu, Dec 27 (RSS): President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday held discussions with the newly-elected office-bearers of the Federation of Nepalis Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI).  During the meeting at the Office of the President, President Bhandari congratulated the newly-elected team of the FNCCI and wished them for their successful tenure, the FNCCI stated in a press note. On the occasion, President Bhandari suggested that the FNCCI leadership needs to focus on employment generation through enterprises development for self-reliant economy. "We are lagging behind despite our immense potentials. We are rich in natural resources; we have not problem for market but sufficient investment has not come. Country records 491 new cases of coronavirus infection

Kathmandu, Dec 27 (RSS): A total of 491 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered while conducting RT-PCR test on 3,828 individuals in the past 24 hours in the country. The Ministry further shared that total number of the infected reached 258,181 and of them, 249,863 have recovered till today.  According to the Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 731 infected individuals have recovered in the past 24 hours.  Similarly, six persons succumbed to virus across the country jumping the total death tolls to 1,825 till December 27.  According to the Ministry, the recovery rate of the patients is 96.8 per cent in the country.  

Election Commission upgrading voters' name list

-Narayan Neupane  Kathmandu, Dec 27 (RSS): The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has started updating the names of the voters registered in the voter list for the upcoming election of the House of Representatives (HoR).  The incumbent government has already fixed the dates for the mid-term polls of HoR on April 30 and May 10 next year. According to Commission's Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha, necessary groundwork for the upcoming mid-term election has started and the upgradation of the voters' name was initiated.  The constitutional body that is responsible for conducting and monitoring elections as well as to register the political parties and candidates and reporting election outcomes has to prepare its action plan for the election to hold the general election on a timely manner. Cabinet expansion: some new, some repeated

Kathmandu, Dec 25 (RSS): The reshuffle of the Cabinet on Friday got some new faces while some are repeated. Top Bahadur Rayamajhi who is appointed the Minister for Energy, Hydropower and Irrigation has already become the Deputy Prime Minister with same portfolio in the government led by PM Oli after the promulgation of new constitution in 2072BS. It is also the second inning of Prabhu Saha. He has become the Minister for Urban Development this time, while he held Law Ministry and Ministry of Land Reform earlier. Mani Chandra Thapa is the new face who has been the Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation. Thapa who had contributed to then Maoist revolution with awareness-laden songs and music is regarded as an intellectual leader.  Gauri Shankar Chaudhary who had already become Minister for Agriculture has become Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security this time.
