UAE authorises emergency use of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19

Abu Dhabi [UAE], January 21 (ANI/Sputnik): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorized emergency use of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) confirmed on Thursday, noting that Phase III clinical trials were still ongoing in the UAE. Earlier in the day, the UAE's National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority announced that it approved the Russian vaccine for emergency use. "The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has authorized the use of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The vaccine was registered under the emergency use authorization procedure based on the results of the Russian Phase III clinical trials which included over 33,000 subjects. Biden unveils sweeping Covid-19 plan n first full day in office

WASHINGTON, Jan 21, 2021 (AFP) - Joe Biden's administration unveiled a detailed Covid-19 roadmap Thursday to boost vaccinations and testing while centering scientific expertise, after the new US president warned during his inaugural speech the pandemic was entering its "deadliest period." Officials said Biden would immediately sign 10 executive orders and other directives to jumpstart the national strategy. Vaccines: 51 million given jabs worldwide

Indonesia reports 12,568 new COVID-19 cases, 267 new deaths

JAKARTA, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- The confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia increased by 12,568 in the past 24 hours to 939,948, with the death toll adding by 267 to 26,857, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday. According to the ministry, 9,755 more patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 763,703. The virus has spread to all the country's 34 provinces.
